Role Summary
Leads technically significant work packages, reviews discipline deliverables, and provides day-to-day guidance to project teams. The role applies this accountability within Solar PV.
Key Responsibilities
- Take technical ownership of major work packages and establish the execution approach within approved project criteria.
- Develop and review calculations, drawings, models, specifications, reports, and supporting records.
- Guide engineers, trainees, and drafters; provide clear review comments and verify effective closure.
- Resolve complex design interfaces and coordinate directly with project leaders, clients, vendors, and other disciplines on delegated matters.
- Identify optimization, constructability, quality, scope, and schedule risks and contribute lessons learned and standard improvements.
Role-Specific Discipline Scope
- Utility-scale solar plant electrical design, including DC stringing, inverter blocks, LVAC/MVAC collection, single-line diagrams, and equipment ratings.
- Cable sizing, ampacity, voltage drop, routing, schedules, grounding, lightning protection, and equipment/BOM quantities.
- Plant layouts, design-basis and construction packages, and CAD/KMZ/GIS deliverables aligned with survey and site constraints.
- Inverter, transformer, tracker, civil, structural, BESS, PSS, substation/HV, and T-Line interfaces.
- Validation of design calculations, vendor inputs, and automation outputs before release.
Qualifications and Experience Guidance
- Education: B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or another directly relevant engineering discipline from a recognized university.
- Experience: Typically 6-9 years of relevant experience, including ownership and review of significant engineering work packages.
- Knowledge: Applicable codes, client/utility requirements, constructability, quality controls, and multidisciplinary interfaces at a depth appropriate to the level.
Technical Skills / Software
- Core tools: AutoCAD; Microsoft Excel; Google Earth Pro/KMZ tools; GIS tools as applicable; PVsyst or comparable solar-performance tools where assigned; approved calculation and document-management systems.
- Expected proficiency: Advanced hands-on proficiency, model/calculation review capability, and ability to guide less-experienced users.
- Reporting / Accountability
- Reporting: Typically reports to a Deputy Manager, Manager, or project Engineering Lead.
- Accountability: Accountable for package-level technical integrity, interdisciplinary coordination, review quality, risk identification, and guidance of junior staff.
